Sharp...with an "E" on the end

My photo
I am a 26 year-old mother of my beautiful 2 year-old son Khalil. He is my pride and joy and always makes me laugh. I aspire to be a great journalist. I really just aspire to be whatever God has planned for me. Slowly but surely I am climbing. I hope that my experiences will motivate not intimidate, uplift and not put down. Its okay to make mistakes, how else are you going to learn?

Good Business

So you know the saying, "if it ain't one thing it's another"? People always seem to remember that saying when bad things happen. But why not remember it when good things happen too. God is in the blessing business and if you didn't know that then you are applying to the wrong places and networking with the wrong people.

I just found out today that I awarded the Lew Klein Excellence in the Media Award/Scholarship!!! (google him) I cannot begin to shout loud enough how excited I am and how much of a blessing this is.

I have been so excited about the opportunity I was given to participate in the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Internship Program. Its a paid internship and they pay for me to take 9 credits at George Washington University. What more could I ask for right?

At the same time I have been worrying about how my bills at home are going to be paid, what if my son needs something while I'm gone. I mean everything just revolved around all these "what if's" with money. AND THEN I GET THE CALL!!!

Student Affairs Rep: Hello can I speak with Haniyyah Sharpe?

Me: This is Haniyyah, who's calling?

SF: This is Sheryl Feldsher , calling from the Student Affairs office at Temple University. How are you?

Me: I'm good

SF: Well you're about to be better.

Me: O-K, (with a smile on my face that anybody could see through the phone!!!)

SF: On behalf of the SCT Scholarship Committee, I’m happy to announce that you have been selected for a Lew Klein Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 to be used for an internship, as described in your application, for the Spring 2010 semester.

Me: Are you serious?..wait I have to pull over because I am about to cry. You do not know how happy I am, how thankful how on time this is!! Thank you so much.

So that's how my day went. The blessings have just been pouring down from everywhere and I don't take ANY of it for granted nor do I believe for one second that I did it ALL by myself!

On a sour note though, my baby is sick. He's like "mommy I don't feel good." And of course I just turn into a pile of puddy. I hate it when he is sick. I just want to take all his pain away.

Anyway, about to call it a night. Remember, there are people out there like you and start networking!!! God is in the blessing business!!!
